Welcome to Print Migration

Print Migration is a Masters Project website which aims to investigate how the landscape is changing for editors, journalists, writers and publishers because of advancements in technology and the growing power of the internet.


In the Newspapers section, experienced editors, journalists and media professionals about newspaper staff redundancy, pagination, multimedia, the paywall and the solution going forward.

If newspapers were prepared to face the same profit margins as Tesco’s none of them would have needed to cut jobs: Chris Wheal (Journalist, Editor, Tutor and Entrepreneur)


In the Magazines sections, editors and journalists talk about why several magazines are folding, the need to reinvent themselves online and the exciting new opportunity with the rise of the tablet.

Apps are about separating the data and presentation and giving the user a new and interesting angle on existing web data: Alex Watson (Head of App Development, Dennis Publishing)


In the Books section we have authors and publishing experts who weigh the pros and cons of digitised books and the migration to web-based forms of storytelling. We also discuss the future of libraries, bookstores, the high street and literary festivals.

This digital revolution really is like Gutenberg all over again: John Mitchinson (publisher, retailer, author and entrepreneur)


In the Digitised blog, you will find stories of wonderful people who are making full use of the digital revolution, along with breaking news stories from the digital hemisphere.
